Books for Big Feelings & Brave Conversations

Stories about everyday kids working through everyday moments—big feelings, growing confidence, and learning how to talk about what’s hard.

I’m Casey, and I put this collection together to make it easier to find stories about kids figuring things out as they go—navigating friendships, feelings, and everyday moments that spark important conversations.

If you’re navigating big emotions at home, this short video will walk you through the collection and show you how to use these books in real life.

When You’re Not Sure What to Say

Big feelings don’t always come with clear words.

When your child reacts strongly, shuts down, or says “I don’t know,” it can be hard to know how to start the conversation.

These stories show real kids in real situations — navigating friendships, frustration, embarrassment, disappointment, and everything in between.

Instead of correcting or pushing for answers, you can say,
“Remember how that character handled it?”
or
“What do you think they were feeling?”

It lowers defenses.
It gives you language.
It makes space for brave conversations.

That’s what this collection is designed to do —
give you stories that help you feel more equipped in real-life moments.
